We’re about to witness the Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro and there’s only 129 days left to August 5th, when the opening ceremony takes place.
This Olympic Games are going to be very special. They will be the first ones in South America, with the addition of two new sports: golf and rugby; plus this games will be the last ones to have the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt.
Most of the events will take place in the Barra da Tijuca venue, where the Nelson Piquet Autodrome was. But we can see the gorgeous Copacabana Beach where the beach volleyball will take place, or the Sambodrome with the marathon and racewalking.
The opening ceremony will be at the majestic Maracana Stadium, which had hosted two World Cup Soccer Finals. Notice that the show will start at 8:00 pm in Rio (UTC – 3:oo), and it will surely bring an impressive spectacle with lots of surprises and a glimpse of the Carioca way of life.
If you are going to Rio de Janeiro to be part of the Olympic Games, you can wander through town and visit some of the landmarks, visit a favela or take a hiking or bicycle tour in the city.
