The southern area of Veracruz is quite fantastic and on this tour to the Los Tuxtlas region you can witness the colossal Olmec head and a museum tribute to the first big civilization in America. The activity continues in San Andres Tuxtla, where you can see the tobacco plantations and how cigars are handmade.
Afterwards, you’ll be guided toward the Eyipantla Waterfall, which has hosted several films, including Apocalypto by Mel Gibson. Then you will visit the town of Catemaco, famous for its witchdoctors and shamans; thousands of people visit this area looking for protection and assitance, beside the gorgeous landscape framing the lake. The last stop is in Nanciyaga, a protected area within the Biosphere Preserve of Los Tuxtlas surrounded by an aura of mystery in the middle of the tropical forest.
