Reserve a 2-day journey to the Otavalo Market and get the chance to see the impressive San Pablo Lake and the leather shops at Cotacachi.
Early in the morning you will start the journey towards Cayambe to try the famous Bizcochos, a cracker which can be eat with local cheese or caramel. Then, you will stop at a viewpoint in the San Pablo Lake to take some pictures and enjoy the landscape. Finally, you will arrive to the Otavalo Market to discover the beautiful handicrafts and the precious fabrics in here.
Then, you can decide between spending more time t the market or head to Cotacachi to visit the leather shops. On your way to Cotacachi you will have two stops, one at an Andean instruments workshop and the other in Iluman to see an authentic shaman performing an ancestral ritual.
Transfer to the Otavalo train station to take the 8:00 am train to San Roque. Once in San Antonio de Ibarra you can watch the artists and sculptors in town, including a visit to a workshop. Then the train ride continues to Salinas to visit a museum, see the Train Artisan Square, and much more. Finally, you will return to Quito.
